The status of waste management for any country in the world can be plotted somewhere in this triangle. The bottom left corner is where societies should be aiming for; 100% reuse and recycling. Achieving that is not only a matter of waste management, but very much one of producing goods in a sustainable form. Reality is that most countries in the world are still somewhere in the right bottom corner; a high percentage of landfilling of waste and some recycling and possibly some waste to energy. As landfilling is environmentally the worst option for waste management, countries should plot a desired path away from the bottom left corner towards the left edge of the triangle, finding the right mix between clean waste to energy for residual waste combined with a high percentage of reuse/recycling. AWECT can help plot this line and execute the proposed route.
